Inverness Meet-up, anyone?
« on: January 31, 2013, 07:26:06 PM »
So, I know that the folks down south have been doing Glasgow meet-ups, but would anyone be up for a get-together in Inverness?

I'll be in town on Feb. 13th for my LIUK test.  If anybody wants to join me for a drink, it'd be great to meet people!

If the drink is of a hot beverage variety rather than the alcohol type, I am free baby permitting.

The drink can be whatever people like, as far as I'm concerned.  If people would prefer not to meet in a pub, I'm sure there are alternatives.

I'm really not much of a drinker myself, especially since I'll have to catch a 7 am flight home, and head straight to the office.

So there are a couple of people up for an Inverness meet-up.  Anyone want to suggest a spot?  I'll be staying in town, right near the train station, and I should be free from 4 pm, at the latest.

Looking at cafes, etc., most seem to close fairly early.  The latest I could find was the Costa Coffee on Inglis Street, but it's only open until 7:30 pm, so I'm not sure how that fits in to people's schedules?

There's also always the McDonald's on the High Street, which is open late.

Aaaand, that's about it for non-pub places that I could come up with (not that I have anything against a pub myself-- as far as I'm aware, most of them sell coffee too. :)).  I'm sure there are others that I'm not aware of, and I'll gladly take suggestions.  Just keep in mind that I'll be without a car.

So, Wednesday.  If people are still up for it, just suggest a time & place!

Ahh, you threw me off, because in your first post you listed February.

I've got a bit of a crazy week going on, but may be able to fit in something, depends on what works though for everyone :)

Hmmm- let me see-

Pubs will probably be our best option in the evening for any kind of beverage...
Costa is fine too if early or even the Pumpkin Cafe in the train station -

Thinking here-
Chains/Standardised kind of pubs with coffees- There's the Ash, a Wetherspoons, Auctioneers, The Exchange, Smith & Jones....

Pubs - Castle Tavern, Hootananny's,  Blackfriars, Gellions, Market Bar, The Room, Johnny Foxes... Mcnabs in the Columba Hotel, the Waterfront....

All within very easy walking distance to the train station-

What takes your fancy?

Good lord-- I did say February!  Sorry about that!

The Waterfront sounds good to me.  Does 7:30 pm work?  I can go earlier or later, if needed.

Darnit, I saw the February and thought I'd missed it and I've not been around much so I missed it when it did happen.  :P on me.
