Milk from M&S
« on: February 08, 2013, 11:43:34 AM »
Weird question, but I bet someone here will know the answer.

I stopped at an M&S Food shop last night to get some milk as I was out.  When I went to open the milk, there was no seal under the lid like I'm used to...  Is this how the milk at M&S is sold or did I get a bad bottle?

Not sure if I should use it...  it smells okay I think...

Was it a twist lid?  If so, it'll open by itself when you twist it?

Geez, any other time I would be able to tell you definitely, because we almost always get our milk from M&S. However do the recent bad weather, we've been making quick stops at a corner shop.

I do think they always have a plastic seal under the cap.

Is it a twist lid with another bit underneath that's attached? i.e. when you twist it, it breaks off of the rim at the bottom.

If so then it's ok. if not then there should be a seal on the top.

M&S milk cartons are the same as other supermarkets.. They have a screw top and then a 'seal' underneath, covering the top of the bottle, that you have to peel off to get to the milk. If the bottle you bought didn't have the seal, then it sounds like it was a faulty bottle.

Yup, no seal or locking lid.  It might be fine but not worth the risk.  Out it goes!   :)
