Plane ticket and passport in different names
« on: February 22, 2013, 08:59:34 PM »
We just bought our plane tickets for our trip to the US. After paying for them I realised mine were purchased under my married name while my passport and UK FLR visa are in my maiden name. Will I be able to travel? What should we do?

One of our tasks in the US is to change my name officially there (driver's licence, social security, etc.) Should we change the passport here first? We leave for the US in June.

Thank you!

I'd change the passport now.

Might be worth a call to the airline.  You can explain what you did and maybe they'll change your name on your ticket for no charge.

I agree with KFdancer, it's definitely worth a call to the airline to change the name, or you can try to change the passport first.

My husband works for a long-haul airline here in the UK, and (if the staff are following policy) there's no way they'd allow someone on the plane with a ticket and ID in different names :(
