What to bring over...

I'm so stuck. I need some outside ideas.

We are heading over to the UK for a 4 week visit. (A whole month with the in-laws...Feel my joy. ) And I would like to bring a few things over as a hostess gift for the variety of friends we will be visiting. I would love to bring something small that is hard to find or you just can't get in the UK. I live in California (in the Bay Area), so my first thought is wine from a small vineyard, but I can only bring 4 bottles and they are a bit bulky.

Any ideas? What would you wish someone would bring you from California?
 
(FYI - A hot tan pool boy does not count. That's southern California.  )

I always bring local wine and beers. BevMo have some excellent boxes with foam inserts that work well for transporting bottles - I haven't had one break yet!

I know this isn't California specific - but I have also had a lot of luck bringing over small goodies from Trader Joes.

American snacks & sweets are popular gifts and will be well-received.  American clothes/accessories & cosmetics/makeup are also good presents.  Blu-ray discs movies will also be appreciated.   

What about some yummy Ghirardelli chocolates?
