Maybe there are a lot of scandinavian countries represented as many of the core american values are derived from the northern european protestants who fled to the US for religious freedom. These values have probably been passed down (unconsciously) through the generations.
Or not.
I don't know about the rest of North Europe, but the English Pilgrims...pilgrimed because they didn't like the less strict protestant denominations that were in favour after Charles II took the throne. (Before that it had been Oliver Cromwell, who was a puritan, and the state religion was Puritan.) The other North Europeans, I think did have the freedom of being protestants...I know the Dutch weren't allowed to be, because they were ruled by Spain* at one point...but that's Western Europe.
*Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!!
I am swedish as it says...oh well at least it is a relatively easy langauge to learn...compared to some other Germanics *coughenglishandgermancough*
I would love to be a scandinavian, as I would be able to speak another language, and perfect English too. Maybe it is my ancestral Inner Viking calling me back to my homeland? Iwillignorethefactthatmyfamilynamecamefromwhatisn
