Well that is a relief to know cuz I am used to storing cold stuffs in a big refrigerator! But I know they are smaller over there due to overcrowdedness and smaller spaces.  I just wondered.  :-\\\\

Becca, have you ever visited the UK?

I think whoever told you that was having a go at you. :)

But I know they are smaller over there due to overcrowdedness and smaller spaces.

Sometimes, sure, but not all the time. I have a pretty small fridge here in Brooklyn, too, so it's all relative.

I think whoever told you that was joking. :D

We have a normal, big, American-style refrigerator.

My fridge is not tiny at all. Completely depends on where you live and how much space there is. Some houses have more room than others.

Well plenty of people here keep condiments and eggs out of the fridge, which you'd find in the fridge in the US - so that may be why?

Perfectly safe!!!! No food poisoning here- been keeping mine out of the fridge for 5.5 years and have never made myself ill.

If an egg has never been refrigerated then it doesn't need to be refrigerated, which is what happens in the UK. They go from farm to box to store without being refrigerated and it's fine.

If an egg DOES get refrigerated at any point, then it needs to stay that way. Something about refrigeration breaks down whatever it is inside that keeps them from going bad without refrigeration.

Eggs out of the fridge are perfectly fine over here, but not in the US. There are a whole host of differences in the way hens and eggs are treated between the two countries (read about them here), but the upshot is that you don't need to refrigerate UK eggs.

Besides, room temp eggs are so much better for baking with!
