UPAKWESHIP problems
« on: June 12, 2013, 04:49:39 PM »
Moved from Chicago to London and paid for pickup/delivery on both ends.  Was quoted a delivery date of 5-7 weeks from the date of pickup.  It's now week 7 and even though my things have cleared customs, I've just been told that they will only "aim" to tell me more information about my delivery date in 7-10 working days.  Very frustrating because it appears that I will receive my things at least 3 weeks later than I was quoted.  This is NOT an issue with customs, this is an issue with their delivery service (EuroGroup's third party delivery service in the UK).  In addition, they've told me that for the $200 I pre-paid for delivery to London, I am only entitled to have the delivery people go to the first floor, even though I live on the 8th.  They will go up one floor in the lift, but not 8.  So they will move all my things to the elevator, go up to the 1st floor, move them out of the lift, then I have to personally put them all back in the lift and bring them up 7 more floors.  WHAT?  So ridiculous.  They advertise "door to door" and "moving company", but when I ask about that they say it's only "curb" or "first floor" and have told me "we're not movers".  Maybe this is standard for all companies, but I wish I was warned first, so here you go!  Beware.

I had no problems with UPAK, except that the delivery, like yours, took about 3 weeks longer than I expected.  I was under the impression that once it cleared customs, that they wait until other deliveries need to be made in the same area. Since you are in London, that doesn't seem to be the case as I would assume far more would be going to London than in my pokey town in West Yorkshire.

The communication with UPAK was above excellent. Once EuroGroup took over, it was all downhill from there.

Why would they move everything off the elevator? Why not meet them on the first floor and take your stuff up to the 8th floor? (NOT an ideal situation by any means, but it saves you having the load the elevator again).
