New Member - hi :)
« on: October 19, 2004, 04:01:53 AM »
Hello - I've just joined tonight and hoping to get to know more about this forum and its members over the coming weeks :).

I've been in USA (PA) now (on and off) for almost 3 years - came over in March with my K1 visa and got married to my US hubby in April of this year, and we are now looking to move to UK sometime next year.

To be honest, we would move now, but we want to have some money behind us to give us a bit of a start for when we get there.

Glad to be here.

Pauline :)

Hey Pauline.  Welcome.  Where in Pa are you living?  I'm originally from northeastern Pa...small town life which is not really for me, but there were many great things about the locale as well.  Hope all is going great!   :)

Thanks for the welcomes :)

onetiger, we too are in northeast PA - little place called Plains, just outside of Wilkes-Barre.

missy, we are really hoping to move asap to be honest - but we are going to try and get some money behind us before we do.  Ideally, we would like it to be around about the same time as the lease is up here - which is Next June!  To be honest, I can't wait :).

Pauline :)

Hi Pauline!  We too started out life in the USA and then moved here.  It is realy a great adventure to be invloved in a trans-Atlantic relationship.  I hope you find lots of information on this site and the good news is it is much easier to get here than there Visa wise!

I was born in Liverpool but left when I was 3 months old (well, my mother took me ;)). my father was in the Army and we moved about a lot - then my ex hubby was also in the Army and we moved even more! I've lived on and off in Germany for 21 years and various places in UK. (Nottingham, Leicester, Birmingham, Bicester, Kent), plus twice in Scotland - also Cyprus and lived over here for 3 years now (on and off).   I have two daughters and a son living in the Birmingham area so thats where I stay when I go back to UK.. which by the way I'm flying back on Monday for  a visit.. yaaaaaaaaa !! :).  I tend to travel all over UK visiting family and friends while there and living out of a suitcase (I'm sure most of you have done that)  ;D.

If we had the options, we would move back to UK today! Yesterday I was denied my EAD due to the ticking of the wrong code !!  ::) and to start all over again is such a setback, so UK looks more and more inviting in our eyes.

I do know its a lot easier for Wyatt to come to there than its been for me to move here and as I've said to him, I truly think we will have a better life there than here - nothing to do with the countries or the people you understand! its just that even if we never had two pennies to rub together, we would still have family and friends round us - which we don't have here!! and its just so flipping lonely to be honest..... so onwards and at em :).

Pauline :)

OH...MY...GOD...my best friend lived in Plains.  I grew up in Kingston & Shavertown.  I know the area so well!  It's an interesting area isn't it?  Have you heard some of the local words, like "Hayna" or saying the statement "couple, two, tree"?  Heehee.  Love my old neck of the woods!
