I also hate cleaning the shower. It's massive, so you have to get all the way in to do it and there's a rainfall type shower head which is great for showering, but not so great for cleaning. It means I wind up getting completely wet so I have to strip down, put on a shower cap, etc. Ugh. It's such an ordeal!

I clean the shower walls when I'm finished taking a shower. I'm very careful not to get any cleaner on me  :P, but it's a whole lot easier to do it while I'm in there. Then once I get out and put a robe on, I clean the tub.

We also live in squalor. My husband seems to be blind to dirt. He will occasionally dust his bedside table, but he doesn't seem to want to do mine.  ::)

Got room for another in Squalorville?   :P
I hate dusting and cleaning kitchen appliances-like the fridge and the oven.
Oh, and trying to get rid of hard water stains like on a shower screen.

We're a great bunch in Squalorville! Ain't nowt wrong with it.  :P ;) ;D

I just figure there's so many far more interesting things to be done than housework. Plus if I died tomorrow - I will have wasted all that time cleaning instead of just enjoying my life!  :)

I spray stuff on while I'm in there, but to give it a proper cleaning I need the shower on. It's not easy! (It's not a shower/tub combo - it's a giant giant shower.)

Different strokes, I guess. I don't think people should be proud of living in squalor. When I said we do, I was sort of exaggerating and sort of trying to be funny.

And by saying you have more interesting things to do, it sounds as if you're implying that those of us who do make an effort to clean our house don't have anything better to do. Trust me, that couldn't be further from the truth. Just a bit condescending, perhaps?

Oh dear, maybe we should make this thread private, I can just see the new headlines: "Immigrants coming to GB, living in filth and squalor--and liking it!" [smiley=laugh4.gif]

The shower's on while I'm in there. It's definitely easier to clean the walls while the shower is on. You just have to get over the fact that you're cleaning it while you're naked!

Oh no, chary, I didn't mean it like that at all & I'm sorry if you took offense!

I meant that I personally find housework tedious & uninteresting - for me - that's all. For me & some of my closest friends, our lax housekeeping is something that we share & have a great laugh over who wins the worst housekeeping award, lol - it's just not a huge priority for us. Like you said, different strokes!  :)

I've said it before & I'll say it again - I'm a dirty scrounger & I'm only here for the benefits. And the year-round warm beautiful weather.  [smiley=lipsrsealed2.gif] [smiley=laugh4.gif]

I actually enjoy cleaning... it makes me feel good.
What i HATE, though, is somebody coming along and messing it up when i've not really had a chace to enjoy the clean-ness!  Before i lived with a messy man, i could enjoy a clean house for like, a week at a time.  With a messy man it's only a few hours... a day at the most.

That's the thing - as soon as I do it, it's all messed up again in no time flat! Like as soon as I've hoovered, dirt or mud is tracked in from outside. As soon as I've wiped the kitchen down, milk or beer gets spilt - crumbs left - etc & not cleaned up. I can't ever get over the feeling that I'm doing a pointless exercise.  :P :)

Yeah, same here...except I don't view it as 'pointless', as i love having a clean house, so that's the 'point'!   He comes along and ruins my clean house, and in normal circumstances, when i don't have a crocked arm and am working, I don't have time or energy to do it every day.

I hate any and all chores. I like the feeling of accomplishment when I finish cleaning the house, but I loathe the act of getting there especially when my messy man comes along and ruins it. Whenever I mop the hallway, DH comes home from work and gets mud EVERYWHERE. It makes me see red. I have vowed that next time he does it, I will hand him the mop and bucket and tell him, "No supper until you fix it." We don't live in squalor, but my house is not as clean as it could be and neither DH nor I value a super-clean house enough to dedicate more time to it.

Yes, that's pretty much the size of it!  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

This is exactly it. I love when my house is clean and I'll get into moods where I'll deep clean it all into shape. I often feel like I'm just skimming along to keep the house semi-presentable. My BIL is super anal about cleanliness. Which on the one hand could be annoying, but on the other hand he actually helps my sister clean which would be pretty awesome!

....cleaning kitchen appliances-like the fridge....

Oh yeah. My fridge is horrifying.  Because of my allotment, I seemingly seem to have sludge that abounds in there.  And its not too big, so things get spilt.  It's vile.  I clean it, it gets gross.  I clean it, it gets gross. Rinse. Repeat.   [smiley=puke.gif]

I'm pretty good about cleaning. I don't mind it and do it regularly so that most tasks only take about 10 minutes. But I'm also living in a tiny apartment so there's not much to do!

That said, the one thing I have a complete aversion to is putting my clean laundry away. It happens maybe once a month. Usually it sits in the basket while the dirty stuff is in a pile next to it. When laundry day comes, the clean stuff gets dumped on the bed and the dirty stuff gets taken down in the basket. It comes back up clean, the old clean stuff goes on top, and the cycle continues.

I have no idea why I don't do it, but I just can't!  :P
