Sweet Onions?
« on: August 16, 2013, 02:31:09 PM »
Can you really not get sweet onions here? Hubster went to 3 shops looking for some yesterday. One woman looked at him like he was crazy asking for sweet onions (like she never heard of them), at Waitrose they said sweet onions were too expensive to stock and the third shop just said no. Will I never experience the joy of a Vidalia, Mayan of Spanish onion here? Say it ain't so!

You won't get Vidalia onions, but the white Spanish onions are pretty sweet

You can get sweet onions here, but this is the first year I have seen them. Morrisons and Tesco have them in packs of 3. IMO they are as good as vidalias! They are packaged as Tesco's finest. I was so happy to find them!

I went to Morrison's about a hour after seeing this thread and thinking I'd never heard of sweet onions. I then noticed sweet onions when I was picking up some normal onions!
