« on: August 27, 2013, 10:45:36 PM »

I've seen them.  Preserve shop are actually an off brand last I checked, and ebay, only one seller I saw had true ones, and it was cheaper to buy from the US...

I thought Kilner was the UK equivalent of Ball?
Is there any reason why it *HAS* to be ball?

same reason I buy Coleman lanterns and not Tilley... Made in USA!

Is this for patriotic reasons or is there something more practical behind it? Just curious.

haha I just like to have items in my house that remind me of home.  I collect Coleman lanterns, and Zippos with a theme of "Washington State"  Most of my clothes are shipped from the US (I like Levis style from there better than what you can get here, same as Dickies)  I even have a Radio Flyer in the mail right now  ;D

Try Wilkinson's, I think I saw some in there once. Or your local charity shop, I just got a bunch of nice French jars from mine.
It is difficult to speak adequately, or justly, of London. It is not a pleasant place; it is not agreeable, or easy, or exempt from reproach. It is only magnificent... the biggest aggregation of human life, the most complete compendium in the world.

I've seen mason jars at Hobby Craft, but I never looked close enough to see what brand - assuming not what you are looking for?

Try Amazon?

On a side note, I saw Kilner jars in a shop in the US the other day and that made me smile!

Thanks, that was the first place I looked.  Those both come from the US which means paying customs charges  :-[

I have a radio flyer on the way from the US right now, dredding finding out if I get caught with charges.

I finally got some! Paid about £20 with shipping from the states for 12.  Took 10 days to be delivered, so not too bad.
