Go to any butcher in an area with a high proportion of Jewish people and ask for Salt Beef.

Theres a stall in my local market that sells cooked salt brisket which is similar - and we don'd even have a Jewish community!

I never gave up the quest for the pickles, and finally found them at the M&S Food Shop at Westfield in Stratford!!! I nearly fainted at the 7 quid price tag, but they were worth it!  ;D

That's so funny.  I just walked in the door from M&S.  I couldn't bring myself to buy the £7 pickles (they were the long sliced ones for sandwiches).  I bought a smaller jar of Gherkins for about £2.  They're a bit on the sweet side, but I'll suffer through somehow.  I suspect I'll give into the £7 jar soon (like...tomorrow).

Aldi's are a bit sweet too, but for less than £1 a jar I'll live with it.
