Tie Dying Stuffed Animals
« on: October 03, 2013, 02:31:48 PM »
I am wanting to tie dye a furry stuffed animal and wondered if anyone has any ideas.  My son has a definite thing he has wanted from Santa for months and I'm thinking he won't change his mind.  So, I'm trying to figure out a way to create it!

Thanks.

I live for tie-dye! (Grateful Deadhead)

Hobbycraft (or insert your favourite craft store) has some great blank-colour your own stuffed animals

Then get yourself a tie dye kit    These will all have squirt bottles in them, which will make your life really easy, rather than having to dip and dye and the colours will be really vibrant and are usually non-toxic.  They don't need rinsed out- but you can wash the stuffed animal without them running fading

You can create neat patterns with rubber bands, clothespegs, binder pegs, pins, thumbtacks (to cover up areas), etc...

I've never gotten food on my underpants!

That's great! Is there a particular tie dye kit you'd recommend?

Thx!

The Jacquard kits are quite good ,with clear instructions for use.
Happy dying!  :)

This isn't really any help to the OP, but I just wanted to say that I did a one-day shibori dyeing workshop a week or so ago and it was fab! We had a big bubbling cauldron of indigo and everything!
