Coming to Aucterarder, Scotland
« on: October 06, 2013, 07:02:35 PM »
I'm not new to the board, I've been getting some visa help lately and I was here when I lived in London a few years ago. But now I am about to come visit Auchterarder for two months, which will be my first extended stay in Scotland.

I was hoping to meet anyone else who lives in the area and if you have any suggestions of things I can do, I am all ears. My SO will be working 15 hour days so I am going to be on my own most of the time and won't have a car, so I am looking for activities and day trips I can do by train. Any suggestions would be appreciated--I'm a little apprehensive about being in such a small village on my own!

Thanks  :)

I went to a wedding in Auchterarder and it was lovely! My friends' inlaws live there, but I don't really know them - and they're much older than (I assume) you are.

While I was there I went to Scone Palace which was lovely! However, I had a car. But I've looked on the website and there's a bus that goes there from Perth - and it looks as though you can get a bus from Auchterarder to Perth.

Sorry I'm not much help!

You don't play golf, do you? It's definitely golf country!

Thanks! It looks like a very beautiful, if quiet, area. I'm not a golfer but I suspect I'll get a lot of reading done. It will be my first winter in many years.
