Just to save some stress, know that passing the theory test and taking lessons are totally separate. You can take the theory without a single lesson. Just get the material and study!

Lesson went okay, booked another with him for next week.
He borrows a Micra for his lessons, but his own vehicle to teach manual lessons is a VW.

He appears to be a decent instructor, though he totally took me out of my comfort zone! I guess thats a good thing, because when you do the test you dont know what route youll be taking.

Just to save some stress, know that passing the theory test and taking lessons are totally separate. You can take the theory without a single lesson. Just get the material and study!

Try the library to see if you can borrow a recent copy of the highway code. Also the app I linked you to will help you with studying for the theory

I studied with the CD/DVD pack - I think it was this one:


That did it for me - I used it for the theory mostly but a bit for the practical.  It was also helpful for the hazard perception bit of the theory.

If you want an official DSA book, there are quite a few out there (for new drivers, experienced drivers, etc).

It was better than the first. Hes very different from the other instructor, thats for sure. Just got to do enough to be allowed to do my test and pass.

Hes quick to correct you before youve even realised that youve made the mistake.
Or doesnt give me a chance to process what I've done wrong. I figured if I can drive while hating him, I can drive while nervous as hell with an proctor (or whatever they're called who sit with you while you take your test)

I'd recommend the school, but use a different instructor.
