Anyone in Leeds
« on: November 01, 2013, 11:43:23 AM »
Is there an American candy/sweet store in the Trinity Centre? I know there's one in York. I want to get a few items for DW as part of her Christmas present. (Must include twizzlers!)

We have 3 American sweets/grocery shops in Leeds! The Trinity one is the most expensive though. There's one on Lands Lane (Candy Hero), one in St Johns Centre (can't think of its name) & Gobstoppers in Trinity. They are all in close proximity to each other. And yes, I've seen Twizzlers.

Right, getting back to this, Tykeman - I was out and about so had to give the short answer. Each of these shops sells some of the same things, but they also each carry a few different things so if you're making the trip up to Leeds anyway, might as well call in all three to comparison shop on merchandise and price. Without allowing for browsing time, you could set foot in all three stores within a half hour span - they are that close together.

People here say Gobstoppers in Trinity is the most expensive - I have not been to Gobstoppers yet - it's the newest one. So I'd suggest start there in Trinity.

Then exit Trinity at the Commercial Street exit/entrance - this is by the back of M&S. It leads outwards onto tiny stretch called 'Trinity Street' that intersects Commercial Street. Trinity Street turns into Lands Lane. Lands Lane is an all pedestrian street that runs parallel with Albion and Briggate, and falls between them. Walk up Lands Lane past WH Smiths, Pret, etc - keep walking up past Evans & some other shops. Candy Hero is next to Whittards, shortly before you reach The Headrow.

From Candy Hero, walk up to The Headrow - you'll be across the street from TK Maxx. Cross over and turn left on The Headrow. Turn right at the Beer Barrel Man and walk into St Johns Centre. Walk through St Johns, taking escalator to upper level. The last candy shop is up there just before you'd exit St Johns onto Merrion Street. Also this one (I don't know its name) has carried some small packs of WaWa coffee when I was there at least 2-3 visits - may be worth a look, as I recall your wife is from WaWa land, isn't she? :)

Happy candy shopping! :)

Thanks for that. I think I know where you mean with Lands Lane. I'm fairly familiar with Leeds as I worked there for 12 years, but that finished back in 2001 and I've not been to the shops since Trinity Centre was built.  I know the St Johns Centre.
I'm more familiar with the pubs in Leeds than the shops!
I was thinking of taking a trip up this week but then I noticed you said elsewhere that the German market starts next weekend so I'll probably leave it to week after so I can look round there as well for some presents.
