From South Mississippi to UK!
« on: November 12, 2013, 12:19:27 AM »
Hello all! My wife and I are taking a 2-3 year expat assignment in Farnborough, UK.  We are extremely excited about this once in a lifetime opportunity.  This website has been a great source of information.  As you can guess from my username, my wife and I are anglophiles. We were raised on a diet of Dr Who, Are You Being Served?, and Monty Python.    We will likely be staying in the Cobham area to be near the international school as we have two beautiful children, ages 7 and 9.  They were extremely excited until they found out we weren't coming home every weekend! They are gradually becoming excited again as time progresses. We are highlighting the things they will see: castles, monuments, people that talk funny....

Anyhow, thanks for all the help from your posts! We'll be seeing you January-ish!

There can be only one Tom Baker.

Seven and nine are good ages, they will love it all I'm sure - but food may be a bit of a challenge.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC

I was lucky enough to get a personal tour of the BBC studios in 1983 and remember being shown a room where some very odd-looking costumes were hanging on a rack. I was told they were for the Doctor Who show. At that time I'd heard of Doctor Who but didn't watch it. Now I am an avid fan of the new series and would like to see the classic episodes sometime.

OP, how lucky of you to have the opportunity to move to the UK! Isn't it a pity that the US doesn't get more of the wonderful Brit-coms? The humor is so much better than the American fluff.
On a cellular level, I'm really quite busy.
