Mmmmmm...chocolate.   ;D
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

mmm....chocolate....god, these are so rich, but *so* good.  I'm just happy I finally got the damn shortbread recipe right.  :D

yep, peedal, rich dark chocolate on homemade shortbread.  Come on over, there's still a few pieces left, though the stash is dwindling rapidly.  :D

If I'd known that chocolate and shortbread were a 'welcome' offering, I would have delurked a lot sooner. :)

In that case if chocolate is involved welcome to everyone!!! ;)  I can be bribed you know!!

Seriously.. welcome to UKY!  We just want to make sure everyone feels safe and welcome here...and that the only arms reaching out are ours!

Of course as Peedal knows if you offer me Cuban rum with the chocolate I can be persuaded to an even more effusive welcome! ;D

Seriously though welcome to everyone old and new.  Those that have meandered over and those that have lurked or well whatever....

I have clearly eaten too much peshwari naan and drank too much wine...

Hugs!

Did someone say chocolate?  AND shortbread? AND strawberries? Oh, no wait, we're welcoming a Strawberry, not eating one. Hee hee.

Well, welcome Strawberry! And Anig, too! So where are you from/moving to?

Hi,  I live in the Southwest (UK) and came over here from PA/Ohio 11 years ago.  I was married to an American when I came over, then was unmarried for a while, and am now all happy and settled down and married to a Brit (Somerset lad), nearing our first anniversary.  :D  We live in a small town in the middle of no-where, with our cat.  My husband is a plumber, and I do boring things with spreadsheets (and am hoping to change that sometime soon!  :P).

Now, I just want to be straight up and say that I post on another site as well -- I've kept my name and profile mostly the same on this site, so it's all above board and honest.  I heard about this board and was curious -- and being the sort of person I am, I registered the first day I looked -- didn't even lurk at all.  Now, I take it from some of the comments on this thread ("...but beware.  The long arm of the law extends even here...", "...and not dwell on what's happened elsewhere...", "......and that the only arms reaching out are ours!...") that you guys have been getting rained on by storms that have been brewing afar.  I missed a lot of those storms because I tend to move away from them and, as I said, I haven't lurked here, so I don't know what, if anything, has spilled over.  I've lived in the UK for a decade with no American-network to support me -- then, about 6 months ago, I found one, and yesterday I found another.  That's great and that's why I'm here.  It's nice to see a lot of faces I recongnise already, and I look forward to getting to know the ones I don't.  That's all there is to it but, as there seemed to be a bit of a shaky start here, I just wanted to lay it all out flat for you guys.

A jolly, great big welcome to you, Strawberry.  It took me five years to find this support network, but I'm sure glad I did.

BTW, I love your siggie.   ;D  I'm so glad my browser has a built in spell checker.    ;D  ;D

The first time I read your under-picture-wording, I thought it said "Mmmmm, freshly bottled baby"
Ha ha ha ha!  ;D ;D ;D  ;)

Welcome hon. I was one of the lucky ones and found UKY before I moved to the UK, so I've always had the support from day one. I don't think I could have lasted 11 years without it!  :)

Glad you found our little corner. Make yourself at home.

Hi - I'm so sorry you have had to wait all this time before you found somewhere that you are able to touch base with (as well as a little piece of home!).   :)

Funny my Hubby introduced me to the site (he is still in Texas doing paperwork to come and stay in the UK while mine and the kids papers are being done to go to the USA).  I wondered and worried about him settling in during his stay, and as much as he knows I love him I am sure he will miss bits of home, I'm so glad that this site is here and he can tap into it already and be able to share a lot of the fun and worrying stuff with other who are going through or have already done it.

Me - I'm here for the education!  Does the average English person really sound like the Queen to the average American (I sound like a BBC Newsreader!!!! ::) )  The Best recipes for brownies which I adore - can see me getting fatter by the minute :o  - Oh and as far as chocolate goes - well lets just say they are a fine art that I regularly like to indulge in.  (Honey if you read this Reeses Peanut Buttercups do not count - keep feeding me them and I will begin to think you are trying to posion me for my money!!! :-*)
