Newbie here, just posting my NON-Priority timeline via signature, hopefully done it right.  Anybody else go the non-priority track recently or was I the only one that didn't feel like paying $510 USD right after spending $1513 for the online application.  Mostly because we're fortunate enough that our family can be together during this process.

I think from what I read so far, priority is currently taking 3-4 weeks and non-priority is taking 4-6 weeks, but not sure...

Good luck to all :)

Good luck with your application :).

It was faster than that in November - priority 1-2 weeks and non-priority 3-4 weeks, but it might be slowing down a bit now, as it's getting closer to the holidays.

Welcome ukbound78!! I did non-priority.Looks like mine took 2-3 weeks. I've got to pick my package up from the post office tomorrow morning as I've missed my package yesterday. I never did receive my "Decision made email" so I'm not sure when they shipped it out. I tracked it last night and it said it first landed in new York on the 28th November.Good luck on your Visa Journey!!

Thanks!! :) that sounds promising, I know with the holidays that might slow things a bit, we'll see.  I was guessing more like 6-8 weeks, so might be sooner than I thought :)

Hopefully our application isn't missing anything... I dealt with Canadian/US immigration, but UK's (new laws) seems to be the most complicated (and most expensive!)

Anybody else use UPS Express?  After creating an account, I just ended up creating a return label/waybill with same weight and just stuck the printed label and another UPS envelope in there.  Hopefully that should do the trick...  [smiley=anxious.gif]

It really just depends how busy they are and how many applications they have to deal with. Between about May and October this year it was taking 8-12 weeks non-priority, then last month it sped up to 3-4 weeks, but who knows how many applications they are dealing with now.

Yeah, the new laws are annoying - and the visas are pretty expensive. It's the UK government's way of trying to reduce immigration... by restricting the number of people who can even qualify or afford to apply in the first place.

Ultimately though, it's just a tick-box application. As long as you meet the requirements (finances, accommodation and relationship) and you provide the documents listed in the rules, you will get the visa.

I think you only need the UPS account number, although you can set up an online waybill and include the details in your package. UKVI will sort out the weight and everything when they return the documents, and the shipping will be charged to your UPS account when it's mailed back to you. The return package is likely to be lighter as they should keep all your photocopies and anything addressed to them and just return your passport and original documents.

If you didn't quite do the shipping label right, no need to worry, Sheffield will just contact you to ask for your UPS account number so they can sort it out.

Thanks for all the info ksand24 :)

And yes the new laws are annoying, especially when we found out that if my wife was of ANY other European citizenship other than British, I'd be able to obtain a 5 year entry instead of the 2.5 and at the fraction of the cost... oh and not to mention the huge 62,500 GBP financial requirement (if only based on savings) would go away... but I digress :P

Regarding UPS return shipping label, I just tried reprinting it but it won't let you after 24 hrs, I was just trying to check to see if the account # is already on there, and hopefully avoid delaying things, but like you said shouldn't be a big problem hopefully :)

Well, you have to send a return addressed envelope, but you can't actually pre-pay it because you don't know when it will be returned, what it will weigh or how much it will cost.

That's why you either set up a waybill with UPS online and/or include your UPS account number, so UKVI can charge it to your account when they mail it back.

They already sent me package back in my prepaid envelope and sent it through regular mail instead of using my UPS Account. Just thought it was weird. Thanks ksand

It's UK dates so it's valid from 12th November 2014... That should be the date it was issued by Sheffield.

Oh and congratulations on getting the visa :D!
