Thanks!!
that sounds promising, I know with the holidays that might slow things a bit, we'll see. I was guessing more like 6-8 weeks, so might be sooner than I thought
It really just depends how busy they are and how many applications they have to deal with. Between about May and October this year it was taking 8-12 weeks non-priority, then last month it sped up to 3-4 weeks, but who knows how many applications they are dealing with now.
Hopefully our application isn't missing anything... I dealt with Canadian/US immigration, but UK's (new laws) seems to be the most complicated (and most expensive!)
Yeah, the new laws are annoying - and the visas are pretty expensive. It's the UK government's way of trying to reduce immigration... by restricting the number of people who can even qualify or afford to apply in the first place.
Ultimately though, it's just a tick-box application. As long as you meet the requirements (finances, accommodation and relationship) and you provide the documents listed in the rules, you will get the visa.
Anybody else use UPS Express? After creating an account, I just ended up creating a return label/waybill with same weight and just stuck the printed label and another UPS envelope in there. Hopefully that should do the trick... ![Anxious [smiley=anxious.gif]](https://www.talk.uk-yankee.com/Smileys/classic/anxious.gif)
I think you only need the UPS account number, although you can set up an online waybill and include the details in your package. UKVI will sort out the weight and everything when they return the documents, and the shipping will be charged to your UPS account when it's mailed back to you. The return package is likely to be lighter as they should keep all your photocopies and anything addressed to them and just return your passport and original documents.
If you didn't quite do the shipping label right, no need to worry, Sheffield will just contact you to ask for your UPS account number so they can sort it out.
