I just woke up to an email from Sheffield "A decision has been made on your UK Visa application." I can't believe it!!! I wonder if my email yesterday requesting compassionate consideration made a difference? I hope it means that it's approved? I'll post an update again once it arrives.

Congrats! (Sidenote: I just saw your timeline and sorry to hear about your family member).
I received an email last Thursday that mine would also be dispatched shortly, but my package doesn't seem to have left yet.  Have you guys tried to track your UPS shipping?

Thank you for your kind words. I've been in a panic that I'd be stuck in limbo and unable to travel if my mother-in-law in England takes a turn for the worse. She's receiving hospice care now and I'll be so relieved when I can visit her again. For now, we talk on Skype every day.

I received notice on Saturday that it would be dispatched shortly but there was no movement until Monday evening. It now shows that it left Sheffield late Monday, traveled to Castle Donnington, UK and then Koeln, Germany (isn't that the wrong direction? :)) and is scheduled to be delivered by the end of the day Tuesday. I'll post again as soon as I receive it. Any update on yours?

At what point does one wonder if the visa will ever be decided? (I'm not at that point yet, but it just crossed my mind... at what point does someone say, 'hold on, this has been too long!')

Over 60 days?

Their processing standards time is 12 weeks (60 working days), so if it gets to that point and you still haven't seen the visa, then you can contact them to make a complaint.

They're taking forever....I wonder if a compelling reason would apply by I'm currently waiting on my visa get back under medical care (I'm 19 weeks pregnant) to ensure my baby is ok since our insurance here is no more)....

Would that be from the date submitted or the date acknowledged?

Exactly, it's a darn mystery..from what date does that 60 day window actually start? Today is day 47 (business day) since it was acknowledged! What the hell are they doing!

Usually the date that they acknowledge the visa application has been received in Sheffield (I.e. The date they open it and log it into the system).

You could try, but not sure that would be an urgent enough compelling reason, to be honest - normally they would consider compassionate circumstances to be something like a medical emergency or a dying relative in the UK who only has a few days left to live.

We received an email today asking for a courier account number. We did include one, but I just wrote it on a cover letter so perhaps it was overlooked. I've emailed them my UPS account number.

Does anyone know if that means they have made a decision? Should expect any further emails from them as to completing the application or posting the documents back?

Also, will they send me the tracking number so I can track the package or is that just wishful thinking?!
Online application - 27 Jul (priority)
Biometrics - 3 Aug
Delivered to Sheffield - 5 Aug
Acknowledgement email - 11 Aug
Email asking for return waybill (even though it was included) - 18 Aug
Decision made email - 27 Aug
Received visa - 31 Aug

It's hard to know (but fun to guess).  It's likely your application is at least on the ECO's desk!

Yes, they should send an email when a decision is made with the tracking information.  This happens most of the time, though there are circumstances where the package just arrives at someone's door with no email.

You should be able to log into your Uhttp://www.talk.uk-yankee.com/Smileys/classic/smiley.gifPS account and see anything under it.   :)

Thanks so much! Now the clock starts again waiting for a decision email  :) So stressful having so much riding on this!
