I really hate putting all my eggs in one basket. the what if's kill me. If i give my 2weeks notice now, call the company to move my stuff now. then find out in 2 to 3 weeks the visa been refused im fecked LOL. but same time if i dont wont give me alot of leg room to do all that needed to move/and get to england when needed.
Any advice?
Yeah. This is a tricky one. I would wait one more week to give it because when you do get the confirmation email - you still have 2 days to wait for it to arrive to see what you got. It is so awful not knowing till you get that passport back. But I will tell you that the deadline in your passport will not be flexible. The 30 days starts from the day they give the visa so by the time you get it - you will have lost a week.

Are you coming over on a fiance/marriage visa or a spousal visa? They have the same requirements for the application, but very different things for your actual visa. As you are mentioning insurance, it sounds like you might be coming over on a fiance/marriage visa.
Yes mine is a spousal visa. We skipped the fiancé one.

Okay, so basically they give you a 30 day visa in your passport for travel to the UK. They will actually go by the travel date you gave when you applied. They didn't used to, which was really annoying and part of the reason why you got a 33 month visa.

After you arrive in the UK you have however many days left of your 30 day visa to pick up your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP card) from the Post Office you specified in your application. If you are unable to pick your BRP card up within those 30 days, I don't know what you would need to do as I haven't seen anyone have this problem yet.

The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

Yes - you get a letter with instructions with your visa so don't worry about that part. I am picking mine up Monday with that letter so save that.
Regarding the IHS card - insurance card- I believe that comes in the mail.

Hi - just to be clear. No they don't go by your leave date at all. I don't even know why they ask for that really.
All of the other info is right - and regarding the BRP card - if you don't pick it up in 30 days - your letter specifies that you could lose your visa status.  COULD being the operative word so best just make sure you pick it up. LOL

It's a National Insurance Number or NINo, and what it does is keep track of your personal tax rate. It's kind of like a social security number, but not. You have to have your NINo to work, a lot of online applications require it to apply. In order to get your NINo you have to have your BRP card in hand.

Hope that's helpful!

Yes , they do.

If the travel date is still in the future on the day they approve it, they will put the start date as the travel date on your application (other people on the forum have had this).

However, if the travel date you put has passed already because it's taken so long to process then it will be valid from the date they approved the visa.

So in retrospect if i put date like Nov 30th i got approved on Nov 10th. they would give me 30days from nov 30th. giving me more time to figure stuff out . verses now its 30days from there decision date?

Uhm, IHS card? what do you mean by that? There is the IHS (international health surcharge) but you don't get a card for that... It's to allow you to use the NHS, which you get an NHS (National Health Service) number when you register with a GP.

Right, but you don't just get a number given to you when you enter the UK, you have to choose a GP office and register with them. So definitely something to do in your early days, especially if you have any medications you take on a daily basis.

EDIT: You might want to wait to register with a GP when you have your BRP card, they need a copy of it since it's your settlement visa and proof you have access to NHS services.
