On my phone, so excuse typos.

Contacting them didn't give me specific information, but I felt better for doing it.

The website to pay priority on is still down, so it took forever and a day for our consultant to upgrade us.

My consultant is in California, so if she does work on saturdays, I won't know if I got an email until about 12 or 1 this afternoon. She doesn't always work Saturdays though so no guarantee I would hear if I do.

You should definately hear something very soon.
Good luck Kallista  x

Excellent, looks like they're powering through April applications now. Hopefully won't be too long until they packages get sent off...

My application was only for a marriage visitor visa (for now), but it was approved! Only took 10 days from when they received the application. Now I'm just waiting for them to send back my documents. Thanks so much for all the support here with the documents to include, especially for the ties to the US.

Had my BIOS appt on 29 June & mailed everything out that day.  Was received in Sheffield on 1 July.  Opted for priority service so hopefully will have a quick & successful turnaround.

Of course now, even though I had a checklist, I can't stop asking myself "Did I remember that?" & "Did I give enough information?"

Fingers crossed.

What type of communication should we expect to receive? We tracked our application and it was delivered and signed for 6/20 non priority. Will the next correspondence be a "being processed" then a "decision"? I don't expect non priority from June to be looked at until mid August.
LTE received: 21 October 2016
Arrived in U.K.: 25 October 2016
FLR(m) extension: 1 June 2019

What kind of visas are these that are taking 2 months to process? We will be applying for a Tier 2 general visa with certificate of sponsorship, is it worth paying for priority, or are these processed quickly?

Most people posting in this thread are applying for settlement visas through Sheffield. This is generally the busiest time of year for visa processing and so it can potentially take 2-3 months for settlement visas to be processed if you don't pay for priority processing.

For the Tier 2 visas, it's generally faster than this though - in May 2016, New York processed 44% of Tier 2 visas in 3 working days, 84% in 5 working days, 98% in 10 working days, 99% in 15 working days and 100% in 60 working days (so only 1% of applications took longer than 3 weeks).
See: https://visa-processingtimes.homeoffice.gov.uk/y/united-states/points-based-system-visas/pbs-tier-2

If you're worried about getting it quickly though, you can always purchase priority processing for $210 per visa application - this gets the application put to the front of the line when it arrives in New York: https://www.vfsglobal.co.uk/usa/user_pay_services.html

As visas are getting approved and people are getting their answers, I have a question, for those denied, can you immediately refile and still use the priority mailing, if you can fix the information they ask for?

Thanks so much and congrats to all of you getting your decisions and good luck to everyone still waiting!
Thanks for all your help and thoughts!

You can reapply whenever you're ready, however it will likely take a bit longer to process than the first application because they will need to look into the reason for the refusal and check whether you now meet the requirements.

They advise not to use priority if you have a refusal because they can't guarantee fast processing, however, it's still likely to be quicker than not using priority because you will still get put to the front of the line... So there's no harm in using it.

As a quick reassurance though, approximately 95-98% of applications made in the US are approved - if you meet the requirements and provided all the documents, there's no reason why it should be refused.
