Mrs. Roberts, that's so funny!(: I feel like we all just become like an odd little family in some crazy way! Us Americans gotta stick together! If it wouldn't be weird, I might just end up posting a photo or two! Lol

NatCatCole, Thank you so much for reassuring me!(: I was so worried I might have done something wrong, but it did seem pretty straight forward to just email them the receipt and provide them with the basic info they would need, so in glad that's settled! Now comes the waiting! Hopefully things speed up a lot now!!!(:
But I didn't use any specific link, I just went to the VFS website and found the priority option and filled in all the info and my wonderful fiancé gave me his CC# to pay for it(: but just so I'm clear, did you end up staying with the NY option or did you manage to somehow get Sheffield as an option on that first page as the application processing center? Because I definitely couldn't.... I believe I selected US-> settlement-> NY and on the next page I selected Fiancé/proposed civil partner as the "Sub Visa Category"... The cost was the $510/£300 so I'm assuming it was done correctly! I really hope so! Otherwise my dumb self could have just wasted tons of my fiancés money!!

NMF921 I want to be back by mid-May!! Lol  I'm hoping it only takes a week to process my application now that it's been moved to priority (hopefully that gets done today)

And I'm sure I will be posting a few photos (:

It's really so nice to see so many caring people!

If you had selected the wrong one, it would only have cost you £100 of your fiance's money, because the only visas that cost £300 for priority are settlement visas which are processed in Sheffield. All other visa types are only £100 for priority and are all processed in NYC.

I wouldn't worry about it saying New York on the website. It's probably just to determine that you are an applicant from the US rather than from another country, since New York is the official 'Visa Application Centre' (VAC) for US applications (as biometrics are done by US immigration and not at a VAC) and as you are aware, UKBA process all visas except settlement visas in NYC.

A similar thing happens for visas in other countries - I just tried Peru and Bolivia. Settlement visa applications made in both Peru and Bolivia are processed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. However, the only options for the Peru and Bolivia Visa Application Centres are Lima, Peru and La Paz, Bolivia, respectively.

And same with Canada - settlement visas are processed in Sheffield, but the only options for Visa Application Centres are the various cities in Canada, because that's where you go to attend biometrics and submit your documents (which are then forwarded to Sheffield for you).

hi all. :) a long-time lurker here, recently joined after sending my ap in for a fiancee' visa....

which brings me to my question- anyone here waiting for a fiancee' visa *without* priority?  what's your timeline like? i'm well over a month, now, and starting to get twitchy.  we're considering seeing if we can up it to priority, but not sure if it's the right step! *sigh*

oh! and congratulations, NMF921! have been following your saga, and it's great to see you've rec'd your visa, safe and sound!

mine:
Fianceé visa:
online ap 3/18/14
biometrics 3/21/14
email saying docs rec'd by sheffield 4/3/14
..... *sigh*  :)
Fianceé visa:
online ap 3/19/14
biometrics 3/21/14
email saying docs rec'd by sheffield 4/3/14
priority processing purchased 5/1/14
Email confirming visa APPROVED: 5/14/14

Zaxy, processing times are always changing (sucks so much, I know! Lol) but I had sent my application in 7 weeks ago and was told yesterday that my application would still take A FEE WEEKS to get processed... So unfortunately it may seem like you're still far away from getting a decision unless things speed up anytime soon... I purchased priority yesterday (Monday) after I heard it would still be a few weeks for my application... But good luck!(: keep us all updated

Just received the "a decision has been made" email.

Here's our timeline:

Country applying from: USA
Type of visa applied for: Spouse Settlement (Not Priority, then upgraded to priority)
Date application submitted (online or in person): Online March 28, 2014.
Date biometrics taken: April 1st, 2014

Date documentation was received by UK Border Agency office: April 5th, 2014
Office location processing your visa: Sheffield
Upgraded to priority: April 17th
Decision email: April 29th
Date your visa was received: Waiting

We decided to upgrade to priority because plane tickets in June were hundreds more than those in may, so we figured we'd either be spending $500 on priority or $500 on  more expensive plane tickets :) :)

Congratulations NMF921!  And congratulations Sarahb083, since it sounds like your visa is on the way.   :)

I've been lurking on this thread, cheering in the background for all of you who have received your visas and commiserating with those who have been waiting for far too long.  I'll be applying for a fiance visa from the US at the end of July or beginning of August - evidently one of the busiest times... *sigh*

There is no question in my mind that I'll be paying priority after reading all your experiences, so thank you for sharing your stories.  :)

Anyway, just want to add my voice to the cheers!  ;D
Here 2 years as of Oct. 1, 2016.

Thank you so much Zaxy ... Hopefully you will have some good news soon... This whole process is so stressful... It's bad enough knowing your application is sitting on someone's desk waiting to be worked on, but not knowing where your stuff is, is terrifying... I always jump to conclusions and think the worst...

Sarahb083 - that's great news... Shouldn't be long for you either ...

FutureMrsHandy - after seeing Sarahb083's timeline makes me think, since you did upgrade to priority, that you will be hearing something really soon ... It looks like they are getting those out at a good pace... Looking at my visa, it was approved on 04/02 ... That was only 9 days after I got the Email that processing has started...
So I'm really feeling positive that you will hear something by the end of this week ... Fingers crossed !!!
Oh... Can I ask ... Where in Texas are you? If I recall correctly, you said you fly out of Houston??

Hopefully I will be booking my flight in the next few days ... I found a non stop from Vegas to Heathrow around the dates I'm looking at for a little over $700.00 ... That's not a bad price at all ...

Thanks Becca - hope your process is quick and painless  ...

I'm from south Texas, it's about a 6-7 hour drive from Houston, so I take an hour long flight into Houston then my long haul flight directly into Heathrow from there(:

BTW, I woke up to this email!(: hopefully because I sent mine in before others who added priority, mine gets to the very top, but parts of my doubts it'll happen that way lol
