Chicago Girl in "suburbs" of Reading
« on: March 07, 2014, 11:57:10 PM »
I just wanted to introduce myself.  I am Shannon and I'm 31!  I live in the Reading area, and I have lived here since May 2013, so nearly a year now.  I moved here after being in a long-distance relationship for 4.5 years.  My husband is British, and we got married in July.  We don't have kids yet and aren't planning to have them for a long while.  I have just started driving over here, and I am currently trying to find a job. I don't have too many friends of my own yet, mostly I just know people through my husband.  I'm missing my friends from back home.  I hope to make some friends on here!

I have a very quirky sense of humor, I love animals, and I love to play with makeup. It sucks that you can't buy Too Faced Cosmetics and NYX Makeup over here!!

I like reading Neil Gaiman books, and I love any movie that Tim Burton has done.  In general I am into horror movies, and I really was irritated with not being able to do anything for Halloween 2013, because it's not that big a deal over here.

US stores that I miss desperately:
  • Sephora
  • ULTA
  • Trader Joe's
  • Hot Topic
  • Zumiez
  • Bath & Body Works

US restaurants that I miss:
  • Jamba Juice
  • Qdoba
  • Lou Malnati's
  • Taco Bell (I didn't miss it til I couldn't go there anymore!)
  • Wendy's

I have shared a bit about me, and I hope to meet people with similar personality as myself.

Shannon

Hi there!

NWI burbs girl here destined for Bristol :) I didn't realize you couldny find NYX or too faced. How about Urban Decay? Please tell me they have that there :)

Do you have a mission burrito by you? They are kinda the UK equivalent to chipotle.
There's suppose to be a Taco Bell somewhere in England, not sure where its at.

Welcome to the boards:)

Welcome.  Half hour from Reading is a big radius.  I'm in Wokingham, which is east of Reading.  Try eBay and Amazon for your makeup.

Do you have any pets?  I have two kitties.

Jenny, there are genuine Chipotle's in London.  Don't know how often you get there though.   :)

Hi & welcome!

Larger Boots stores usually have a Too Faced concession - it may be small & you have to either ask someone or hunt around for it. I get the odd Too Faced product here in the UK at Boots.

There are about 3 Taco Bells in the UK - your nearest is probably in Essex. There are couple there and one in Manchester.

Also, in addition to the Chipotle in London, there's another couple chains here that are like Chipotle - one is BarBurrito and another is called Tortilla.

Hope that helps! :)

Hey, I'm from the Northwest Chicago Suburbs and I live in Perth Scotland now. I also never missed Taco Bell till it was gone, now I'd murder someone for it! I've never been to Reading, how do you enjoy it?

There are currently 3 Taco Bells in the whole of the UK (not counting any that might be on military bases).

I'd like to be in on the meetup at Five Guys.  How can I find out about that?
