I watched the end of the omnibus yesterday-and it was the first time I'd watched an entire episode in months.  You gotta love Sonya.   :)

She's the only good thing in the show . She's a great character and is well played by Pam St Clement. If she leaves Pam should deff get a part in a Lynda Lee Plante as a hard faced women or a vice queen she'd be great as that X

I knew about Martin and Sarah, but missed a few episodes, only to hear that Martin was in the hospital, and watch Pauline cleaning blood from some fabric. Does Sonya (and yes, she's a very good actress) know Martin slept with Sarah, and what happened to her (Sarah)? In general, what happened with them? I guess it doesn't help to watch once or twice a week and figure it out. Also, is it just me, or has anyone else noticed (at least from the episodes I've seen) that the mother in the new family always wears the same pink t-shirt and blue sweatjacket? Or that Alfie and Kat each seem to have a wardrobe of three tops each (max)? Sure, they're all working class and all that, but I think the BBC needs to cough up some money for wardrobe expenditures. Then there's Zoe with the omnipresent jean jacket. (That new family was supposed to boost EastEnder's all-time low ratings, but I don't think it's made a dent. Also, I read somewhere that the annoying Ferrerras are supposed to all meet their demise in a housefire, or something like that.) Also, as someone mentioned, PLEASE send "Little Mo" back where she came from. She's always been this weak, cowering mouse, and suddenly, less than a year later: "I am woman, hear me roar." Give me a break. :)

They should dump Gary (he's good with that constantly constipated expression), and bring Janine back.

Sarah cornered Sonia at her house while Martin was in jail for beating her up. She told her everything and then whipped out a knife right as Martin showed up. She then was badgered into revealing that he hadn't actually slept with her - which is why she wanted him so badly - he's a gen'leman!  Then she lunged to stab and Martin caught it in the tum tum. Sonia bashed her over the head with an ashtray and that was that!

So, is Gary going to succumb to the little trollop?

No, evidently she moves on to others next week...if only she knew how to act, it would be so refreshing!

Martin DIDN'T sleep with Sarah? I thought he did, but was relieved that no one else he was out with that night remembered his leaving with her. Curiouser and curiouser....

One other thing I HAVE to comment on: Vicky (Dennis' and Sharon's sister), suddenly came onto the show after living with mom Michelle in Florida her whole life. (Do you remember the hopeless attempt she made originally to speak with an American accent?) THEN, Sharon sends her BACK to her mom, and a few months later, Vicky comes back, having picked up that typical Floridian SCOTTISH accent. Apparently, the dialogue/accent coach on the set found her a hopeless cause. ALSO, how is it that characters like Little Mo and Lynne, with minimum-wage, part-time jobs (Mo, basically a cleaning lady at the Vic, Lynne bouncing from working at the caf, to the launderette, etc.), can have a life crisis, but decide in as little as a day to pack up and  leave--do the show's characters all have secret Swiss bank accounts to fund such life-changing, spur-of-the-moment decisions? And when Andrew's watched it, he's also pointed out that it's very odd that it can be midday (say, the nitwit Ferreras are in the caf having tea), yet SIMULTANEOUSLY, people are in Angie's Den, a nightclub, not a pub, dressed and partying as if it's two in the morning. Then they'll cut to a scene of, say, Gary and Minty in the garage.

Now we watch the show simply because there are so MANY opportunities to take the piss. If anyone's ever seen "Mystery Science Theater," with the robots and human mocking the dialogue and plots of old B-list movies, that's what an evening's episode of EastEnders is for us. :)

Same in our house, actually.   ;D  I certainly don't remember having  this much "fun" watching General Hospital or All My Children.  ::)

EastEnders star 'slashed his wrists'
By Evening Standard reporter
9 November 2004
EastEnders star Christopher Parker has been granted indefinite leave by the BBC soap after a suspected suicide bid.

The actor, who plays Spencer Moon, is said to have slashed his wrists after taking a paracetamol overdose at the Marriott hotel in London's former County Hall.

Parker, 21, is said to have been devastated by rumours about his sexuality.
