Buying Plane Tickets: Two-way cheaper?
« on: April 09, 2014, 04:05:51 PM »
Is there any legal reasons why I can't buy a 2-way ticket once I get my visa and just not use the other ticket?  Seriously, I'm looking at prices and can save like $400 by just buying a two-way ticket with United and cancelling the second flight after that.  Is there any reason not to do that?

I did that with a Delta flight and never had any issues. I've been back to the States since missing the flight and I guess there was nothing to flag me as it went smoothly.

Just a suggestion.

If you know of a visit back to the US that you want to make (for example Thanksgiving), you can use the return for that.  Then repeat for the next trip.  A friend of mine did that for a long time.

That's exactly what I plan on doing (:

Or just canceling the second flight if need be
I don't see any problems with that(:
