We had them first! Dyson is a British company.

I used one first when they were trial-ing it at the Eden Project. I was amazed!

When was that? The first time I saw them was in Japan in 2006. I don't think they were Dyson, though. I wonder which was first, the Japanese or the British version?

I prefer Dyson airblade hand dryers, they make me feel like I'm in the future.

I hate them, the diagram says you put your hands in and then slowly withdraw, they don't bloody work! I end up with my hands in them longer than a normal hand dryer where I'm rubbing my hands.

It was probably 2005 or 2006.

For lotion, I think the most available for dry skin purposes is the E45 range.  I see that Aveeno and Eucerin are now making appearances.  However, the products available seem very different to what would be offered in the US.

Plus, if you have joint issues, i.e. problems bending your wrists, you can't get your hands in and therefore, you can't dry your hands. :-\\\\

And the water leaks off the sides!

YES!! I love those things. I remember the first time I ever used one I couldn't stop talking about it for days!  ;D

I annoyed my husband with my enthusiasm for the power of the Dyson.
It is difficult to speak adequately, or justly, of London. It is not a pleasant place; it is not agreeable, or easy, or exempt from reproach. It is only magnificent... the biggest aggregation of human life, the most complete compendium in the world.

Most restrooms have air hand driers which are more hygienic and Eco friendly. You should be able to find large bottles of moisturizer at the supermarket or at Boots or Superdrug, and toothpicks are plastic and sold in the dental section. I don't find much if a difference in what I can buy in the UK except for the price.

They did a Mythbusters on that.  Air hand driers are absolutely not more hygienic.  They, as some might think, spread around your germs and crap all throughout the air lol.  While paper towels while more eco friendly contain any stuff you have on your hands to the paper towel.

Paper towels are definitely not eco-friendly.

My sentence was messed up.  I know they're not more eco-friendly.  I guess I had a brain fart mid-sentence which is why that sentence makes no sense.
I meant to say something like "while air-dryers are more eco-friendly, Paper Towels do better at containing contaminants you have on your hands, instead of spewing it in the air like air-dryers do".

Or you could just do what I do which is the most eco-friendly thing of all and keeps any germs to my own person--dry my hands on my jeans.

But if you've just washed your hands with soap and water, there shouldn't BE any 'germs and crap' on your hands to blow into the air.

For those of us taking public transport (especially living in London and taking the Tube), this would totally negate washing your hands! :P You don't know what germs are on those seats (disgusting, I imagine! Especially in big cities).

Ewwwwww! Germy tube/bus jeans!!!! :o

I always assumed the whole air drier being more sanitary was in reference to the old towels in restrooms...the big blue ones that rolled so you could find a dry part. Those always grossed me out to no end.
