I love disease issues.

If you get the chance read Samuel Pepys' diary description of the spread of the plague in 1665. It is a creeping horror, beginning as little mentions of "a fever" amongst the poor over across the river. Murmurings of "20 or so dead this week" at first...no real mention for a while as he blathers on about an investment in a shipping company or something, and then it hits his church congregation and then his street with a terrible fury. There is a sort of engrained puritanical morality to it...a just punishment for the sinning masses, but viewed much differently when it is coming down his road and into his house. I think he blames the maid.
I just hope that more people will ignore the fatalism of the argument that we are beyond repair. We are not beyond repair. We are never beyond repair. - AOC
