LADIES - Opinions Please
« on: May 26, 2014, 09:45:28 PM »
I have just moved here with my husband from Boston. While I am looking for work I am setting up a little home business and I need your help.

Since being here I have noticed that the range of sanitary products is much smaller and the products themselves not half as good as what we can get back home. I would like, and think we deserve, to have more choice.

I plan on importing some of our popular ranges, Playtex, O.B., Kotex, etc.  Would this be of interest to anyone and if so what brands would you be interested in?

Thanks

Hannah

I have to say when I first moved here I felt that way a bit, but in reality Always is my preferred brand and it is readily available so it isn't something I would be interested in.

Would agree with above.  After standing in the aisle for 10 minutes the first time I figured out what I was looking for, and its actually cheaper here than in the US. :/

I guess its doesnt strike me as something I would go out of my way to find online outside of my monthly/bi-monthly shop.

I've used Tampax Pearl for the last 15 years, and that's readily available here, so I wouldn't be interested either, I'm afraid.

I've just tended to use the Boots own brand stuff and have found it perfectly adequate, though now I've switched to a Moon Cup and think it's the best thing ever, so it's a no for me as well.

This is one thing I wouldn't have imagined there being a problem.  ??? Women are woman and need women's things, no matter where they live in the world. Shrugs? (Sorry)

Agreed. I was worried about finding tampons in Azerbaijan (Muslim country, etc) but it wasn't an issue. Honestly I'm not sure how many people would be prepared to pay import costs for something like this.

I find the selection here fine for me.

I would love to see Bath and Body Works open here though...  I'm not 100% sure why!

Agree with historyene, aside from finding adequate/substitute products the cost would make it a no for a lot of people.

I personally haven't had any problems here.  There are more options than I'd need, and of comparable quality to what I've used in the US.  What stores have you been looking in?  Even in the small city-centre shops that carry a limited selection, I still find everything I could ever want...

I wouldn't be adverse to them stocking O.B. in England but bringing the 3-4 month supply that I need in my suitcase isn't an issue.  Otherwise I haven't had a problem finding products that work, even if they are not what I generally use in the US.

I use Tampax and can get them here so I wouldn't be interested either.  When I was in Australia though, I did find it pretty impossible to find tampons with applicators, I remember bringing some over for a friend I was visiting who was studying there.
