So Cali to Cumbria

Just wanted to say 'Hello' and that I am quite enjoying reading all the posts on this site! Apologize for the initial lack of introduction, but things have been a bit stressful of late.
44 y/o So Cali native here; lived in UNY (middle of nowhere!) for 5 years before moving here to Barrow with my husband. Love it here, tho have not made any friends here (after over 2 years - this is my fault). Read a lot of posts here very, very similar situations both in how they met their partners (online) and the lack of friends (tho as I've stated; I blame myself for this).
I am a 'homemaker' with no children; 3 cats, LOL. Into gaming, at the moment Skyrim/ESO, LotRO, EQ. Like to read/listen to books. Keep up with series (too many to list LOL). Would be cool to find someone to shoot the breeze with.
I am chatty, (my husbands accent is changing as opposed to the other way round!) and very much 'open book', so tend to scare folks off I suppose.
But anyway, if any lonely expats need an ear, I'm here (as long as my ILR goes well on Wednesday and they don't toss me out of the country, hah!)

Grew up in San Gabriel Valley - moved to South Bay area @ 19 - did a stint in Northridge (moved in with boyfriend). That was after the quake...
Haven't been anywhere outside of Cumbria yet; can't wait to see other parts of the country!

Hi So Cali expats!

I am from Los Angeles and live in Greater Manchester. I have been in the UK (Cambridge-->London-->Manchester-->Turton Bolton-->Darwen-->Turton Bolton) for 5 years now come September and am just getting into this forum!

Look forward to seeing that I am not alone in all my feelings. California to the North is a hard adjustment at times (mid-winter).

Do you guys know of any good ways to meet up with fellow expats in person?

Sorry, I've pretty much kept to myself (other than online) for the past 11 years, so no clue about the outside world.

Ah Northridge ... Used to take the bus to the mall there ... But then again that was way back when it was still safe to take the bus anywhere ...
