Tenancy Agreement
« on: June 12, 2014, 03:53:18 PM »
We just received a tenancy agreement from the house we're renting in Newcastle. I'm thrilled because we've been able to secure the place while we're in the US, which I heard can be difficult to do (plus it's a great house). But we've just received the tenancy agreement and it's SO detailed. Like we should clean the bathrooms every week and don't hang wet clothes on the furniture, etc. Is this typical or are we in for a micromanaging landlord situation? We're in a student-heavy area so I'm wondering if this is just boilerplate for students who don't know how to live on their own.

Mine had a detailed list of how the unit was to be left at the end of the agreement (carpets professionally cleaned, stove professionally cleaned, curtains dry cleaned) but nothing about while LIVING there.  Seems very micromanaged to me!

When I left my rental, I arranged for the management company to have the place cleaned to their standard.  They didn't do many of the things on the list!  They said the carpets and curtains were fine, for example.  It was strange but I didn't complain!  Saved me lots of money.
