Thanks you two.  Yeah, I know. I was caught up in that major backlog in 2012. My FLR took 10 1/2 months!!  So yeah, I'm used to waiting. I will try to be patient. :D
Ouch, that's a long wait. The waiting doesn't get any easier, does it? When the approval letter arrived I'd stopped eagerly checking the doormat for brown envelopes. I assumed it was our council tax bill and didn't look at it until later in the day! I was kicking myself haha. I thought I'd be more relaxed about our UK visa journey, but I feel the same as I did when I was applying in USA!

Hopefully you'll hear something next week. Keep us posted.  ;D

Hello
I was wondering if anyone applying from the US (via UKM) has run into extended waiting times. I submitted my citizenship registration in late Dec2015 and have heard nothing back. Also, I have not received any acknowledgement of receipt. I waited 8wks+ before emailing an inquiry and received a standard reply that they would respond to my email within 20 business days. As of today, I am still waiting. It would be great to know that I actually had a case number but I don't even have that.
Any advice?

Basis:  citizenship by descent - UKM

Don't want to be a bearer of bad news, but I believe that UKM applications made in the US are facing delays of up to 1 year at the moment... because there is no facility to give biometrics for citizenship applications in the US yet.

Someone else had problems with this a few months ago (after several months of waiting and hearing nothing back), and I believe they were told they could give biometrics in Canada or Mexico instead.

I think what they ended up doing was going to the UK to give biometrics... though I don't know whether they managed to do that in the end or not.

These were their posts, I think:

Why can't they do biometrics at a USCIS field office?

Thanks ksand24. I did reach out to him and he did, in fact, end up doing his biometrics in the UK. Although, there is someone on the Britishexpats.com forum (ref. marmaduke on http://britishexpats.com/forum/citizenship-passports-spouse-family-visas-uk-196/wait-time-us-citizen-ukm-application-response-874188/ [nofollow] ) who did his in the US albeit 300km from his house. Also, I found reference on the Home Office website that they use the US Department of Homeland Security application support centre (ASC) for visa applications made in the US. Would they not do the same for UKM?

Yeah, they use USCIS Application Support Centers for all UK visa biometrics - so I have no idea why they can't use them for citizenship as well (that was what my reply to beignets above was in regards to).

Hubby applied via UKM form back in September 2015 while in the US.
The fee was taken September 11, but we never received acknowledgement for anything.
We waited and decided to try to come to the UK and finish the citizenship process at the beginning of March. We arrived the 3rd of March, sent an email requesting to do biometrics on the 9th and received a letter from HO on the 12th and did biometrics on the 14th. We have just sent another email on the first of April asking for confirmation of the change of address and change of venue for citizenship, and have received a response today that they have received hubby's biometric info and have sent a request to change venue and that they have indeed changed his address to our UK address.  Communication seems to be more forthcoming while here in the UK...We are on month 7 of this process and hope it is done soon! We are in the UK until August. If you need any advice or just to talk about how frustrating this process is, I'm always here :)
I am a North Carolina girl born and raised, yes I love sweet iced tea, Texas Pete and biscuits and gravy....but England is where my soul feels at peace and I can't wait to get there.
