I know the feeling - I checked the balance 3x per day, and also went into the bank to alert them that a big debit was forthcoming. Didn't want to chance it being rejected as 'suspicious activity'. (That was totally OTT, but just trying to cover all the bases  ;). )

DahmerisDead, has your payment been taken already? I'm applying for citizenship very soon and I'm just wondering how long it is taking between the NCS appointment and the payment being taken. I travel out of the UK about every four to five weeks, and I know that I must be physically in the UK on the day my payment is taken, so I'm just trying to figure things out. Thanks!
2006: Met DH to be in London
2006-2010: LDR, with one year spent in UK in post-grad school
2010: Moved to London on Tier 1 PSW visa
2011: Engaged
2012: Married
2014: ILR Approved at PEO Croydon
2015: I'm finally British!

You have to be physically present on the day the application is received, not when the payment is taken. If you use the NCS, most send the application the day of your appointment and it's received the following day. You can check to make sure that will be the case - obviously from DahmerIsDead's experience, some wait to send the applications.

In any case, the average seems to be roughly 10 days from application receipt to payment debit (assuming you use a debit or credit card); a cheque could take far longer to clear.

Where I applied they saved up applications and sent them at the end of the week.

Mine was sent on a Friday, received on a Monday.  And then the Friday after the payment was taken.

Christmas would be nice!

Well - another milestone on the journey. My ceremony was this morning at Crewe Hall, and it was quite nice. Around 20 new citizens, representing 15 countries. I was the oldest of the bunch and the only American.

I have to say that I got quite emotional at the actual point of walking up to get my certificate. Didn't anticipate that, but there you go. Guess I'm an old softie after all.

Cheshire East did the tea and biscuits prior to the ceremony, so once it was over, the only thing was to buy a photo (we did, because DH was unable to take a candid shot) and then head home. I decided to fall off the diet wagon today and indulged in a slice of carrot cake and now on my 2nd glass of cava.....I think I deserve it!

Hoping to get the passport application done tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest; using the post office 'check and send' service. Had photos made Saturday, and tey are possibly the absolute worst pictures I've ever had made. Almost hope they reject them for some reason, else that's "me" for the next 10 years!

Congrats Vadio!! I sent my application off via the checking service last Tuesday, looking forward to getting the process wrapped up! Enjoy the cake and cava, it's well deserved.
