Rough Week
« on: August 02, 2014, 07:35:29 PM »
So the BF dropped the news to his parents this week.  To say they aren't happy would be a massive understatement.  Apparently I am manipulating him and want to control him.  So to say things are stressed is... yeah.  I'm tired, emotionally drained, physically drained.  Not sure where things are going, or how things are going to work from here.  He has no clue what he's going to do.  So yeah, everything has moved into an even deeper limbo for now.

Just extremely stressed with no one else to share it with.

I am sure this is difficult..but I am sure you can also understand the concerns of your bf family. It will take time for them to get to know you and learn to trust you. All you can do is continue to build a strong relationship with bf and hope that the love shows through in time. Also give bf some space if he needs it while dealing with everything :) Just hang in there and be there for each other.

I do understand their concerns.  I am not pushing him at all, just listening, and letting him vent or whatever he needs to do.  Trying to not say or do anything other than just let him know that I am there for him.  Not sure if they are ever going to like or accept me, the huge age difference being the big obstacle.  So yeah, just a wait and see game.

A lot of times, in cases like this, it is time that makes the difference. Be open and supportive. Remind me again the ages? (if its okay). If the love is true then it will endure.  :)

He's 21 I'm 44.  I understand they're concerns, it's just tons of stress on top of tons of stress.  Right now we're playing don't ask don't tell until mu visit in January.

I can understand not telling the whole story just yet to his family, but please don't let it be a surprise.  Give them time to digest the info, so that when you meet then they can concentrate on getting to know YOU.

They know the whole story, hence the accusations that I am manipulating and controlling him.  Basically the don't ask don't tell approach right now is continuing on the relationship path we were already on, but don't shove it in their faces and see where things go when I visit in January.

Well the parents won.  He just broke things off.  So I guess I really have no reason to be here any longer.  Thank you for all the advice and support you have all given me what little I have asked.

I'm very sorry.  Thank goodness you hadn't moved your life for him.
