WV to Manchester
« on: August 19, 2014, 03:37:57 PM »
Hello everyone :)

I've stumbled across the forum many times, so I figured it was time to say hi!

I'm 27 from WV, and I'll be moving to Manchester, England in less than 3 weeks on a student visa to obtain a graduate degree at Manchester Metropolitan.

My husband is dual national between the US & UK, and so he'll be moving back to the UK after being here for the last few years.  He has two children living in England, so if all goes as planned, we'll be applying for a spousal visa before my program is over.

It's going to be an adventure, especially considering I've never been to any country other than Canada!  So, I'm very excited and I'll often be pouring through the forums.

I was so happy to see that there is already a section on Halloween celebrations!  & as per the advice of a poster, I've added US measuring cups and spoons to my packing list :)

Looking forward to meeting you all and sharing our experiences!

Measuring cups and spoons are available pretty much everywhere now, unlike when I first moved to the UK.

Married December 1992 (my 'old flame' whom I first met in the mid-70s)
1st move to UK - 1993 (Letter of Consent granted at British Embassy in Washington DC)
ILR - 1994 (1 year later - no fee way back then!)
Back to US in 2000
Returned to UK July 2011 (Spousal Visa/KOL endorsement)
ILR - September 2011
Application for naturalization submitted July 2014
Approval received 15-10-14; ceremony scheduled for 10 November!
Passport arrived 25 November 2014. Finally done!
