Hi there! New to group. Portland, OR relocating to Scotland
« on: October 07, 2014, 06:58:26 PM »
Hello, everyone.  I am from Portland, OR and married to an absolutely wonderful Scotsman.  Currently waiting on spouse visa approval (applied from the US back in July) and today received what I consider a very ambiguous email saying a decision has been made and my docs/passport are on the way back to me, but it doesn't say if it was a YES or NO decision! So very frustrating.  I just do not understand why they cannot be straightforward and have found the entire process quite cumbersome.

ANYWAY, I am thrilled to have found your group and look forward to learning a lot from you all.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum!  There is so much information on here and a great Expat community.

I know what you mean about the e-mail.  When I applied for my Tier 4 visa through the New York Consulate in 2012, I received an e-mail that my visa had been approved.  This time around, I got the same ambiguous e-mail as you did.  I got mine on Thursday and it was the most nerve-wracking weekend EVER!

Good luck with your visa!  I am sure you will be fine and you will be able to join your husband lickity split.

Cheers, you guys.

So am I right to understand that the same emails are sent from Sheffield regardless of if you are approved or denied?

I am totally stressed right now...  ???

Yep.  Same e-mail so you find out when your package is delivered.  My passport was open to the visa page in the package so it was a quick answer.  If there is a refusal, there will also be a letter.

Congrats !!!!

What part of Scotland will you be in? I'm in the Fife region in a small village between Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy.

Very cool, I know where you are about.  I will be in Denny, but technically we live out in Carron Valley, across from the reservoir.  Have you heard of or ever been to Carron Valley Forestry, Carron Valley Fishery http://www.carronvalley.com/ or Duncarron Medieval Village? http://www.duncarron.com/dun/ We are right there and the fishery is run out of a place just behind our house.  It is absolutely beautiful.  Remote, yes.  No internet access but they keep promising.  We manage to get on-line with our mobiles set on top of a dozen DVDs on the windowsill of the bedroom LOL.
And YES, I am dying to go back LOL.
