This has been making me cringe. I've got a co-worker who says my name "Ahn-dre-yah" which no on in America would ever says unless they're pretending to be stuck up New Englander. And by that I mean completely over doing it with a put on accent. He holds out the that first vowel and says, "Ahhn-dre-yah" which takes more time to actually say than "An-dree-ah." I've had Americans ask if its "An-dree-ah" or "On-dree-ah" but never had I had someone draw my name out to "Ahhn-dre-ya"

Oh man!  That would annoy me to no end!  I know name pronunciation can vary across the pond but some effort should be made to pronounce someone's name correctly.  My husband works with a Na-taaaa-sha.  Every time I say her name, I have to make a real effort not to say Na-tah-sha.  Good luck getting him to pronounce your name correctly!

yeah... he's the partial owner of the business and his Dad started it. I'm not sure how to correct him.
The usual. American girl meets British guy. They fall into like, then into love. Then there was the big decision. The American traveled across the pond to join the Brit. And life was never the same again.

I have been here 10 years and while it get easier you will still have hard times.  The best thing I did was join the facebook group American Ex- Pat Women in the UK.  This group of women rock and you can rant about things you miss or hate and find support.  But most of all they will make you laugh and show you that home is where your heart and love is not a location.

Christmas for me is always the hardest time of year as I have a 2.5 year old so not being home with the grandparents is tough.  The best support you will have is finding another American to visit with.  If you are a sorority girl there are international alumni groups, I made friends from Delta Zeta and other houses.  I hope this helps and keep your chin up.
