Curtains
« on: October 11, 2014, 01:07:55 PM »
Any suggestions on where to get curtains?  We're looking for something for the loo but it has a very long narrow window.  Ideally they should be thermal and with pleats or gathers (no grommets please).  Plain is OK but a smallish print would be nice.  Don't really want anything with huge purple cabbage roses on it  ;)

Have you looked at Ikea? I, personally,  ;) have had great success finding the perfect curtain panels at Ikea the years from simple and plain to purple velvet!  :D
They are very long, 80 something inches I think and pretty reasonably priced.
Also they come with one of those iron on heat stitch witchery strips so you can just cut the panel to the length you want and not have to sew it!

oh. Would you be able to sew one in if you find a panel you like? Or how about online? Amazon or Ebay?  :)

Is there a Dunelm Mill store near you? I've had good luck there.

Married December 1992 (my 'old flame' whom I first met in the mid-70s)
1st move to UK - 1993 (Letter of Consent granted at British Embassy in Washington DC)
ILR - 1994 (1 year later - no fee way back then!)
Back to US in 2000
Returned to UK July 2011 (Spousal Visa/KOL endorsement)
ILR - September 2011
Application for naturalization submitted July 2014
Approval received 15-10-14; ceremony scheduled for 10 November!
Passport arrived 25 November 2014. Finally done!

I second Dunelm Mill, you could also try BHS. But, if your window is an unusual size you may have to be prepared to make alterations.

We've had bed linens from Dunelm, so that's the fallback.  And they do seem to have thermal linings on some.  Just wasn't too taken with the look of the curtains.  Oh well ...

I bought some separate thermal linings at Dunelm to use with curtains we 'inherited' when we bought this house. Just had to get different curtain hooks that have a little ring on the bottom to attach the lining hooks. Linings are fairly cheap and really robust.
