Need Advice on Selling EVERYTHING
« on: November 13, 2014, 06:46:09 PM »
I am moving from Dallas, Texas, to Northampton this coming January (hopefully, if all goes well with the visa) and need to liquidate pretty much everything.  I am taking a lot of my dishes and kitchen stuff, but it's just too costly to move my furniture and other household items.  As I live in an apartment and it's getting cold outside, a garage sale is probably not an option.  Does anyone have any advice on selling everything?  Any good online garage/estate sale websites?

I would try Craigslist, although I haven't used them before so can't give any personal experience.  I know there have been issues using them, so it may be a good idea to look at some online feedback/advice about it just so you know what to watch for.
Here 2 years as of Oct. 1, 2016.

I've used Craigslist to buy furniture and it doesn't seem much different from Gumtree. You will probably get rid of all your stuff really quickly as long as you post photos and list at the right price.

If your employer has a virtual/actual noticeboard that might be another place to advertise your stuff.

Thanks Becca and Fruitgum - I appreciate your feedback.  I've heard lots of Craigslist horror stories, but I think you're probably right that it would be the most efficient and expedient means to sell off everything.  I'll just make sure I have backup when people come around to collect items.  :-\\\\

When I moved here, I sold a lot on Craigslist.  It's free and people haul the stuff away themselves.  I used eBay for some things but there are fees.

Do you have any county/city/local 'buy, sell or trade' groups, or barter groups available? They may be listed on Facebook, and found by a quick search. There are loads of them in Indiana, so I am guessing other states would have them too.

Hi TamaMoo, I'll be sure to check for those. I have some friends that told me they do online garage sales so there must be something of that nature. Thank you!
