Reviving the Americans in Essex topic
« on: November 29, 2014, 01:24:43 AM »
Hi everyone
I recently (well not so recent, it was more like 12 months ago) moved from Philadelphia to Brentwood. It's been a year but I'm still homesick, lonely and missing good ol American hospitality.  Any Americans in the area? I'm thinking of starting up a monthly meet up for home sick folks like me. I'm open to ideas -book club, games night, expat lunch? Anything to get us out and socializing again.  Let me know if anyone's interested.

Hi, I just moved to Leigh on Sea in November with my wife and child. We're originally from New Jersey, and are also looking for fellow US expats in Essex. Have there been any kinds of meetups scheduled? If not, maybe something could be set up after the New Year!

Al

I'm in Hockley so right in your area.  Originally hail from the great state of Ohio (go Bucks!).  I'd probably be game for a meet-up if something is happening.

Well then, let's get a meet-up started! Since it's almost Christmas, and holidays are busy times, perhaps the best thing to do is post-holiday meetup. So...how about an outing in mid-late January? We can hash out the location and dates so that it works for all those interested.

Brentwood was my first home in the UK.  It's a really sweet place!  I lived right above the high street and volunteered at a charity shop near the double round-about (Wilson's Corner?).  It's beautiful around there!

I'm in Chelmsford, been here since 2009, originally from the Philadelphia area.  It would be nice to connect with others locally.

I'm not American, but I live near Chelmsford and my fiancé from the US has just been here for a week. I'll ask him if he's interested in meeting up with you folks. Right now, he's getting used to life here with me and my kids :)

Hey all,
Let's get a meetup started! We're in Leigh on Sea, and there's a few good places here.

Where: The Vine Leigh on Leigh Road, http://www.thevineleigh.com/, or The Elms on London Road.
When: Saturday, 2/28 or Saturday, 3/7
Time: 6:00?

If interested, respond here and let's see what kind of a turnout we can get!

Cheers,
Al

Hi, I can meet up on the 28th.  My birthday is on the 6th and it's a big one (gulp) so we're away for the weekend on the 7th.  Otherwise, will catch you in the next go round.    :)

Hi everyone!
Its been so long since i've signed on here. I see meetups have been planned for either the 7th or the 14th. I can make either day! Should we move to the 14th to accommodate everyone? I vote yes. What say you?

Hi everyone,
Did the meetup happen on the 7th or will be happening this weekend, 14th? Me and my husband are from the US (ohio, florida) living in Canvey and would be excited to meet with others?

Jeanette
