My two cents on Upak, at this moment I am very unhappy with them.  They have had my stuff for three weeks now and it is still sitting in South Carolina.  We only found out last Friday after much pestering and constant follow up where in fact our shipping container and boxes were! We couldn't get an answer and the person who handles this went on vacation and apparently no one does her job when she's away.  After multiple emails my husband finally got a response stating she'd been on vacation and she was "sure our stuff was there somewhere" Ummmm NOT good enough, everything I own is in those boxes! It took another full week plus a day to find out it was in fact there. Now I am still waiting for her to process payment.  The shipment cannot go until it's paid for but is not for lack of trying on our end. I am VERY frustrated with them.  I'll let you know how it goes if and when they deliver to the house in Scotland!

So here is my latest..they finally took the money out of my account on Saturday Sept 5th.  We delivered the stuff to them on August 13th. So that was well over three weeks...we'll see when it arrives in Scotland.

Keep in mind that they can only ship things once there is an entire full container. So there will be a gap between your drop off and the actual ship date. I think it took my stuff about another and a half to make it to Cardiff from drop off in charleston to arrival at my doorstep, but the ship didn't even leave till about 2 weeks after I dropped off.  If you want to sort of sneakily track your stuff, once they give you the ship info google the ships details and you might be able to find a schedule for it. I did that and was able to estimate when my stuff would actually make it across the Atlantic. It then took about 2 weeks to pass through customs and make it to me.

Thanks! Yeah, I know the standard time frame for shipping via well, ship, is 6 weeks.  We finallly got a response telling us our stuff was on the ship. My problem has been we never were told the process and we could NOT get an answer on where our things were after we left them in Louisville.  They do not offer door to door here so we had to take our stuff to Forward Air via a Uhaul and assemble the pod and we had two pallets as well. Of course we want our stuff to get there, but my main concern was WHERE IS IT? Who has it?  It was excrutiating.  But apparently it's of this individuals hands now and I for one am glad! :) Thanks for the advice on tracking it.  We do have the ship name and tentative arrival in the UK on Sept 22nd.

I am also in the same boat...Who ever said great things about UPakWeShip I want to beat the sh*t out of him/her ...loll

On serious note ... it's been a nightmare working with these people..It's more than three weeks that my stuff was taken and till date I don't have a clue where the hell my shipment is? ALICIA, PETE & MARK all of them I have asked several times about my shipment.. ALICIA is the worst of them all as she is never reachable.. I am sooo upset with their professionalism..They are yet to provide me with basic information .. tracking details, Insurance details and estimated delivery date..even if they don't know about it at least respond to my emails..

I would never recommend others this company.

Yep, you named off everyone by name that we dealt with. And yep, I pretty much concur. Pete did eventually weigh in and get Alicia to respond but it took several attempts by my husband to get any attention at all.  It is now almost 2 months later (less 6 days) and our stuff just arrived in the UK last week.  It is now being held up customs.  So I may actually beat the damn stuff there! We have had several communications from them in the UK so far and one was to clarify what certain terms on our manifest mean (ie: tools = metalsmithing tools, hammers, files, hand saw) We'll see how long that takes and if they try to wrangle more money out of us. Good luck! I hope you hear something soon.

I thought I was the only one facing issues with them lately..I got email yesterday finally from Alicia about my Shipment whereabouts !! Lol.. They gave me the Container name and I am now tracking it online.
Now that I don't have any control, the best policy I followed is to forget about it till they contact you..;-)
I hope you get your stuff cleared from Customs quickly and smoothly..

My advise to others is to look at other options i.e Shipping companies. I thought I will save money through them but it may not be true in all cases.

Thanks! The good news is that our stuff has been cleared the bad news is we have to wait another 7 to 10 business days to hear from the delivery side.  However at least so far and I hope I'm not jinxing it by saying so...the communication from the UK side has been far superior to the communication stateside.  They have kept us informed quite well to this point. Hopefully it will continue and we'll have our stuff at the house before my husband leaves to come back and get me!

I'm new here as it appears I'll be moving to Scotland near the end of this year. I'm just beginning to weigh my options for shipping my HHG and PE - mostly will be books, clothes, some framed pics and posters, etc. No furniture.

I'm looking at UPackWeShip and their U-Pak50 or U-Pak100 (cube) service and I was encouraged by the early reviews here - but those most recent are of concern. MelfromLou - how did your experience work out? And those dealing with "Alicia" is that Alicia Hawk - as she is who responded to my initial inquiry. I've replied with about a dozen questions so will be interesting to see her response.

I'm not so concerned about arrival dates, but more so about communications, any hidden/unexpected fees, damages?

Also, any thoughts on better to pack in cardboard boxes or Rubbermaid bins? If not UPackWeShhip, other recommendations?
