hello from westcliff
« on: December 26, 2014, 10:14:29 PM »
I moved to Uk a year ago to Westcliff and I am just super lonely and homesick around the holidays.  i lived in Essex one time before from 2008-2010.  I decided to move back but I am just waiting to get through the holiday feelings.

what do others do when you are feeling homesick for the Usa and you are in the middle of Essex?

I order in some Cinnabon.  I am campaigning for them to open a branch in the Royals.  London is too far to get my fix of gooey deliciousness.  And then I drown my sorrows in some Rossi's.  Truly delicious ice cream!

I got ridiculously excited when I saw this, as I didn't know they sold online!  Nipped over to their website and started to register, and then I saw it...

'Sorry we are unable to deliver to Scotland and Northern Ireland'.

Oh no!  I'm sorry to get your hopes up!  Hopefully they'll expand.

Southend doesn't have a ton of US shops or restaurants.  There's KFC and McDonalds but those have been pretty anglicized.  Mrs Simms' Sweet Shop has some American candy and soda.  Otherwise it's a trip to Lakeside (which also has a Cinnabon  ;) ).

Honestly, I've been getting through the holiday with McDonalds and American television! Lots of marathons of the Big Bang Theory and the Simpsons, just to hear those lovely American accents.

When I first went to KFC in the US I was shocked they didn't offer chips! I do love their Mashed Potatoes and Gravy though and I suppose the potato wedges are a bit like chips.

I had an American friend who absolutely hated the McDonalds in England. Thought it tasted awful.
