Info on closed accounts?

I'm preparing a number of years of FBARs and 1040s for submission under the IRS's streamlined program.  I'm running into a bit of an issue in that I have open and closed a number of accounts since I moved here and I don't have records of all of them.  Has anyone had any luck getting information about closed accounts from their banks?  Any ideas about how I might go about doing this?

Send letter's to the banks mailing addresses asking to confirm that you closed an account with them. They should still have this information.
