I haven't been but we're going the first week in August! I'm really looking forward to it. We're going with some friends of ours who are Greek so that should make things much easier.

Definitely update once you've gone! I am dying to go to Greece but have been told to wait until they sort out the financial crisis. my instinct, as bad as it sounds, was that it must mean cheaper holidays, etc., but everybody seems to tell me that it likely isn't the best time to travel there. Would love to hear how your experience turns out so I can look into Greece!

Have a lovely time! x

My problem with visiting Greece is that you have to pass by Italy to get there. And I'm not passing Italy by without stopping.

Well I think...and bear with me...that Italy and France are part of England's self esteem problem.

It's like England has these two brothers that no matter how much they mess up, they are still cool and sexy. England works hard, does what is right....and yet here comes Italy in sunglasses on a scooter saying Ciao.

Not sure I agree with that but maybe that's because I've only been in England 2 years so haven't really noticed/felt that way yet.

But that visual definitely had me pmsl haha

Not sure I agree with that

Well I sort of borrowed it from Eddie Izzard:

We didn't have any problems using credit cards in Crete it's all hyped up by the press in fact tourists are helping build the economy more so now and it might be less crowded as a lot of Brits are scared to go.  I want to visit another Greek island next holiday !!Definitely go it is gorgeous. And I have been to Rome but still want to go to the almafi Coast , Venice too. !!!!

Thanks for sharing! I thought it was likely hyped but because everybody kept saying absolutely not to go just now I started second guessing.

We're going to Greece in less than 3 weeks.  We know several people who have been this summer and every single person had a great, positive experience.  We are not worried in the slightest.

We are going to Santorini.  I'm excited for the black sand beaches!  I'm from Clearwater which has awesome white sand beaches, so I'm excited for something different.
