copyediting/proofreading jobs?
« on: June 05, 2015, 01:00:55 PM »
I've looked through some of the archives and couldn't find anything about this, but apologies if it's been discussed before.

I'd like to make a little extra money working from home, and I am a capable editor/proofreader. Unfortunately I don't have any professional experience in this field, but I'd like to explore the option of contract work (from home). Has anyone done anything like this before? Any suggestions on where to start? There seem to be some companies out there but I don't know who's reputable.

If you PM me with your e-mail address, I can send you an invitation to apply to the company I work for. I do translation, but they have copyediting and proofreading jobs available too.

If you're looking to gain experience, you could always try finding an internship or work experience spot. Or maybe ask friends and former colleagues if they need such services, and you could do a little work for free or very cheaply to get some experience on your CV.

I think these kind of jobs fall under marketing in the UK. Have you looked at the Chartered Institute of Marketing?

I also found 'Publishing copy-editor/proofreader: Employers and vacancy sources'

Thanks for these great leads! I have to wait until I get my visa extension approved before I can move on them but this is good info to start researching.
