I've been feeling really patriotic lately, and missing America, so I wrote a guide for Brits and other foreigner to understand how to join us in celebrating and enjoying next week's fourth of July with us. For once, I tried to keep the wise-ass stuff to a minimum:

That was great!  So good I had to share it on my FB page.  :D

The only problem is this sudden hankering for my grandmother's potato salad and stuffed deviled eggs....  :P

I guess deviled eggs are pretty common, but I never liked them. I prefer macaroni salad. Or just more potato salad.

I remember blowing my husbands mind when I made pasta salad as a side dish...he was like "How do you have pasta as a side dish?! You can't do that!" haha
My, how time flies....

Oh I love macaroni salad!  As for deviled and stuffed eggs, the only ones I've ever liked were made by my sainted grandmother.  ;D

It was pointed out in the comments under my FB share, that you've overlooked watermelon which is another 4th of July requirement.  Seed spitting contest anyone?  ;)

Another great blog post as per usual :)

I forgot about deviled eggs! I was really stuck on what to make for the fourth. But definitely going to have corn on the cob - I remember people putting butter and seasonings inside then roasting it in it's corn clothing...mmm.
Keepin' it real. Real annoying.

I was thinking about making one of those cakes that you then decorate with berries to make the flag and take it somewhere.  Either to work in order to taunt to Canadians in the office with their Canada Day earlier in the week or to my sports group on the day because those are fun people and we always get coffee after anyway.

Its gonna be a billion degrees in the city this week though and the thought of trucking a cake around town kinda fills me with dread though.

Yes Becca, I did indeed forget watermelon- which is definitely traditional. But I think I did it on purpose- I hate watermelon, and maybe subconsciously I was hoping that leaving it off would lead others to forget watermelon. And perhaps to replace it with more potato salad. Or popsicles or popsicles made out of potato salad. Pretty much anything but watermelon.

LOL - I'm not a huge watermelon fan either... and I'll even agree that replacing it with more potato salad is a great idea.... but I think we'll just have to agree to disagree on potato salad popsicles...  :P
