I've got one comment to add to all this - one of the earlier comments said there's no point in getting irate about all this, just sort your situation out (or words to that effect).
I disagree, I think getting irate is helpful. It helped me when I first found out about US citizenship-based taxation. Don't think I'd have got through the whole nightmare if I hadn't got good and irate! As theOAP has mentioned, the Maple Sandbox is a brilliant website. So too the Isaac Brock Society website. Both helped me enormously. They're definitely worth a gander. Good luck.
