Dairylea is pretty good. I never head of Kraft White American. Must have come out after I moved here.
Have you tried good ole English Cheese on Toast? Try this...get cheddar cheese. Put two pieces of bread in your grill and grill lightly on one side. Then take the hot bread out and butter the UNtoasted side and put on thin cut pieces of cheese on top of the butter. Put back into grill and grill till cheese is melted. Take out and salt. Very nice! :)

I personally always preferred my grilled cheeses with cheddar which makes it easy here :-). My daughter however prefers the american...and we use the dairylea thing-- she has no complaints..and since she is a 14 year old picky eater it must be pretty close!

i've not done a grilled cheese in ages. weirdly, last time i cooked one it was for my british hubby and he remarked on how greesy and unhealthy it was! [this from a country where they serve fried bread with artery-clogging fried breakfasts!]  ::)

at any rate, i was going to say maybe you shoudl try a really mild cheddar  - - - that is pretty similar to the average, run of the mill american cheese you find. kids would probably find it good too.

:::shudder::: American cheese..  how can anyone eat that?    [smiley=puke.gif]  You live in England, land of some of the best cheeses around!  Try something other than processed crap.   ;)
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Kraft do individually packed slices.
The bean soup will make you fart.

i like the cheese i found, not processed tasting at all.  and this company makes the best motzarella EVER.  so i trust them.
