Urgent re today's appointment at Croydon
« on: July 18, 2015, 05:56:09 AM »
Hi. Terrible sleep so far which is probably nerves about my husband's in-person FLR(M) appointment later.

Has anyone who has been to the Croydon office in CR9 2BY driven all the way? A friend has recommended we drove to New Addington and then take a tram because the traffic is really bad there. Thoughts? According to Google maps, we have approximately 1.5 hours drive to the office.

Also, is there a foolproof checklist anywhere on UKYankee for people transferring from a Fiance Visa to FLR(M)?

Can't help with the transport question, I'm afraid, as I've never been to Croydon.

The checklist should be a) on the application form and b) exactly the same as the fiancé visa except that instead of sending proof of contact and plans to marry you include your marriage certificate and evidence of living together. Also, no sponsor letter is required as you will be there in person to answer any questions.

All other documents should be the same as the fiancé visa and should be all prepared and ready to go by now :).

Drive and park in the massive car park across the street for the shopping mall.  Never had an issue.

That's where we ended up. Ultra early, but that's fine with us. I can recommend an eatery in the Whitgift Centre called Classic Cafe where we're currently enjoying an early lunch. Nice, fresh home cooked food :)

Under consideration! Saturday seems to be a very good day - very relaxed and not too many people here. Helps there's an NCP car park right across the road too.

This is all great info, my fiancé and I will be going to the Croydon office in just over a month (haven't made the appointment yet but will soon).  About how long does the process usually take?

Hi! All-in-all, our appointment time was 12.40pm and we knew at about 3pm or just after. They say 2-2.5 hours.

My husband's application was successful!!

I know you don't have to do a covering letter, as it was in-person, but I did. They don't actually interview you as such - they take all your info and a case worker will go through it while you're in the waiting area.

I think we'll definitely go on a Saturday again. We left early and it didn't take us long to get there. As mentioned above, there's an NCP car park right across the street at the Whitgift Centre. We ended up paying £9 but there's an easy payment by debit card and it was worth it as you could spend some time shopping before, during the waiting time or afterwards if you wanted to.

Can I please quickly ask - can my new husband look for a job now or does he have to wait until he receives his BRP document? Thank you.

Look away!  I bet he has his BRP by tomorrow or Wednesday.   :)

He was worried about proving he can work legally.
