Dublin weekend - Common Travel Area questions
« on: July 18, 2015, 12:26:01 PM »
Hello all,

I live in the UK and I'm planning to visit Dublin for a weekend with a family member.  I've read a bit about the Common Travel Area and I'm a little concerned about our trip now.

I understand that I'll get my passport stamped going to Dublin, but not returning to the UK.  I'm currently on a Tier 2 visa.  Will this cause any problems for me (either now or if I renew my visa/apply for ILR)?  Is there anything I should do to avoid problems?  Is there any way I can get my passport stamped when I return?

I'd be grateful for any advice.

They can't stamp your passport on your return.  Just keep your boarding pass and itinerary in a safe place in case you need to prove travel dates in the future.
